Mayim Bialik A True Geek Girl

The Big Bang Theory has to be one of my favorite sitcoms out there and it’s wonderful to see Penny getting to know some geek girlfriends. One of those crazy friends is Amy Farrah Fowler Sheldon’s now “Official” girlfriend.   Amy has a Ph.D. in neurobiology and is desperate for human interaction. The actress who plays Amy also has a Ph.D. in neurobiology, is the mother of two boys, and is probably one of the best role models out there.

Mayim Bialik who was the former child star of Blossom took a break from acting. She got married, had two boys and received her Ph.D. How many former child stars do we know that have done that?  In today’s society where women are still not encouraged to take on a science or math degree it is refreshing to find not only a tv sitcom that shows women as scientist but, an actress who is a scientist.
